Honourable Mentions:

Rachmaninov Vespers? Oh No!
It goes so terribly low.
I ain’t no profundo
Can’t grovel and grund, so
First bass is as low as I go.

Anon. of Akaroa

“The dotted half note is a three,”
said my choir teacher to me.
“A well written measure
is my greatest pleasure,”
she said as she gave me a... a B?!

Grace, USA

They requested we sing G & S,
But rehearsals turned into a mess.
In those lyrics (too wordy!)
We sounded like Verdi
Mixed up with some Porgy and Bess.

Archie Thomson

Mr Handel he wrote for the choir
A magnificent piece, full of fire.
Being stuck for a title
He pulled out his bible,
And lo and behold "The Messiah"

Liz Pratt, Bluff

And the joint winners:

A bass with a pain in Vienna,
found the place where the surgical men are.
But the one he saw tripped,
and the knife he held slipped,
now our bass has become a high tenor!

Brian Clark, New Plymouth

A choir is a group that rejoices
In blending the best human voices
In motets mysterious
Or music less serious
Depending upon what one's choice is
