Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the 63-year-old man fell ill during the cruise and was medically evacuated on Monday.

Ms Naisoro said he died at the Lautoka hospital on Tuesday.

It was unclear if the man showed any symptoms of the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health said the foreign national isolated at Nadi Hospital since 6 February tested negative for coronavirus and had been discharged.

It said there were no confirmed cases of the virus in the country.
