Palau is monitoring possible Covid-19 case

Palau health officials say they are it monitoring a person as a possible case of Covid-19.

According to the Ministry of Health there is one person under investigation "who was seen at the Belau National Hospital and may be infected with the coronavirus.

The ministry said the patient traveled to Palau from Guam on 16 March and is now showing symptoms of illness.

The person is in isolation at the hospital.

Public health providers are conducting further investigation to determine any potential exposure and the patient's specimen is being sent for tests on Thursday.

The government said the public should remain calm and continue to practice preventive measures including hand-washing, proper coughing etiquette and social distancing.
