French Polynesia to assist ship with suspected Covid-19

A ship from Peru with people on board suspected to have contracted Covid-19 is today expected to reach Nuku Hiva in French Polynesia to get medical help.

Tahiti Nui TV reported that the fishing vessel had three sick people on board, one of whom displayed severe signs of a coronavirus infection.

The ship with its 30 people won't be allowed to dock.

A medical team was sent from Tahiti to the Marquesas and will examine those fallen ill on the ship.

Those needing hospital care will be flown to Tahiti.
