It marked the third highest number of cases in one day since the coronavirus broke out locally in March.

Ten of the cases came from the same residential cluster while the 11th had prior contact with another known case.

Governor Lou Leon Guerrero said the cases were "alarming" and a reminder for the public to remain vigilant.

At the beginning of the month Guam eased some of its restrictions, including allowing gatherings of more than 10 people.

However the latest cases have led the governor to delay the opening of dine-in restaurants.

"We will look at the rolling average of data and then we will make a decision at that time. There will not be any lifting of restrictions. We want to really look at our data, get more data, do more again expanded testing and then we will go from there," said Lou Leon Guerrero.
