Bougainville and Papua New Guinea have agreed on what question will be posed in a referendum on independence tentatively set for June next year.

This comes after a much delayed meeting of the Joint Supervisory Board, involving the PNG Prime Minister, Peter O'Neill and Bougainville President John Momis, was held last week in Port Moresby.

The delegates resolved several issues and, for the first time, met with former Irish Prime Minister, Bertie Ahern, who is to chair the Bougainville Referendum Commission, which will oversee the vote.

John Momis told Don Wiseman Bougainville is delighted with the progress that has been made.
