Hundreds of New Zealanders down with Big Shake Out

Hundreds of thousands of people signed up to take part in the country's earthquake drill - the Big ShakeOut.

The annual event, took place in homes, businesses and schools across the country at 1.30 this afternoon, with almost 800,000 people registering to practice what they would do if a quake hits.

Students at Evans Bay Intermediate also practiced a tsunami evacuation.
