Ardern challenged at Ratana on delivery for Maori

From Checkpoint, 6:08 pm on 24 January 2020

Rātana has long been a Labour Party stronghold, but the Prime Minister was challenged on Friday to prove what her year of delivery has achieved for Māori.

Thousands have descended on the historic pā near Whanganui this week to celebrate the birthday of Tahupotiki Wiremu Rātana, the founder of the Rātana faith.

The occasion is also considered the start of the political year, where Party leaders are given a chance to speak - and confront - some of Māoridom's most pressing issues.

Te Aniwa Hurihanganui and videographer Patrice Allen were there.
