Police Minister wrong on racism in force - Māori law expert

A Māori law expert says the police minister is off the mark in saying the police is not a systemically racist organisation. Stuart Nash says while the police may have issues with unconscious bias, they aren't racist.

It comes as thousands of people took to the streets yesterday to join the Black Lives Matter movement sweeping across the United States in the wake of the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police.

It has raised questions about the New Zealand police's treatment of minority groups, and the trial of American style Armed Response Teams.
