A survey has found that an overwhelming majority of Māori and Pasifika don't feel safe having Armed Response Teams in their communities.
The pilot programme involves special police patrol vehicles with armed officers in Counties Manukau, Waikato and Canterbury as part of a six-month trial to cut down response times to serious incidents involving firearms.
The survey, led by ActionStation, asked more than one-thousand Māori and Pasifika a range of questions and found 85 percent don't support the trial, and about 90 percent said it made them feel less safe.
