Hawke's Bay Oranga Tamariki 'uplift' case back in court

From Morning Report, 8:13 am on 19 June 2019

The case of the baby at the centre of the standoff at Hawke's Bay Hospital last month is back in the Family Court on Tuesday.

The child's 19-year-old mother refused to hand over her baby to Oranga Tamariki despite the court ordering her to do so.

The tense confrontation - and the accusations of racism and bullying - have led to an internal inquiry by Oranga Tamariki and a more general one by the Children's Commissioner.

RNZ Hawke's Bay reporter Anusha Bradley has been looking into the case and joins us with the details.
