Turkey ready to launch Syria operation

From Morning Report, 8:40 am on 9 October 2019

Turkey has made it clear it is ready to send forces into Northern Syria, after president Trump decided to pull US troops out of the area. The government of President Erdogan says it would execute its own plans regarding national security and would not be "controlled by threats". "Turkey will not accept a terror corridor or terror state right next to its borders under any circumstances, whatever the cost," he said. The BBC's diplomatic correspondent Paul Adams told Morning Report this is familiar rhetoric from the Turkish president.
