Traditional Greek music ensemble Rebetien perform the song 'Gineka Pou Psifizi' especially for RNZ Music at WOMAD 2019.
Much of the music Rebetien perform is rebetiko - a genre best described as songs of an exiled underclass that was famously outlawed in both Turkey and Greece for its association with the underworld and for being "socially degenerative".
The song they play for us - 'Gineka Pou Psifizi' - translates as "the women who votes".
