This concert features seminal Dunedin based band The Chills who have been performing locally and internationally since the early 1980s.
The Chills is the brainchild of singer/songwriter and guitarist Martin Phillipps who was the subject of a feature length film released last year. Over the past 40 years the band has had a personnel turnover of nearly as many musicians. There have been glittering highs with 1984 classic ‘Pink Frost’ voted the 14th best NZ song of all time, but many, many lows including Phillipps contracting Hepatitis C essentially grounding the band for over a decade.
Seemingly reinvigorated with two studio albums released in the last five years, and a stable line-up, for the next 30 minutes we visit The Others Way festival 2019 to listen to an energetic set in front of a packed Studio the Venue on Auckland’s K-Road.
