Auckland band Blam Blam Blam would be significant to New Zealand music history even if only for their 1981 hit 'There Is No Depression in New Zealand'.

The song has been heard in movies and TV shows, became an anti-anthem for the Springbok tour of 1981 and holds up to this day.

The members of Blam Blam Blam all continued to make music under various guises through the 1980s and up to the present.

This week, a full 38 years after their debut EP, Blam Blam Blam hit the road on a national tour.

Don McGlashan (drums, vocals, euphonium) Tim Mahon (bass) and Mark Bell (guitar, vocals) join Jesse Mulligan in the Afternoon's studio for a chat and to play their songs 'Battleship Gray', 'Don't Fight It Marsha, It's Bigger That The Both of Us', 'The Last Post' and 'There Is No Depression in New Zealand'.
