Comedian Alan McElroy's answers the question "Can comedy survive in the age of outrage?" Comedians are now having to ask themselves, who is going to take offence at this joke? A couple of months ago British comedian Jo Brand made a one-liner about the trend of throwing milkshakes over rightwing politicians. Brand said why bother with a milkshake when you could get some battery acid? However, one of the milkshake targets Nigel Farage took offence and said Brand's joke was "an incitement to violence".
