The company was convicted on eight charges under the Fair Trading Act for making false or misleading representations about consumers' rights.

Between 2015 and January 2017 the complainants bought products such as mobile phones, laptops and household appliances at seven Noel Leeming stores around the country.

The Commission found consumers were misled about their rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act to seek remedies for faulty goods such as a refund or replacement.

A Noel Leeming spokesperson said changes have been made to their processes and policies to ensure they comply with the Act.

They said further work and enhancements continue to be made around managing customer complaints and return processes.
