One person is missing and two others have been injured after a boat overturned on the Waitaki River this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 2.30pm, following a report that a boat carrying three people was in trouble close to Black Point in the Waitaki District.
Two people made it to shore, but emergency services are searching for the third.

A St John spokesperson said the two people with moderate injuries were being taken to Oamaru Hospital.
A helicopter and four jet boats are searching for the missing person and have located the boat.
The spokesperson said the boat has not been located and LandSAR have been advised.
