Friday evening traffic on State Highway 1 blocked by vehicle on fire in Auckland

A vehicle is on fire on State Highway 1 at Northcote in Auckland, blocking lanes in both directions.

Two lanes are blocked northbound and one lane is blocked southbound.

It's expected to cause significant delays for motorists.

The third and fourth lanes of the motorway are closed in both directions near the Esmonde Road off-ramp. Video from NZTA shows white-grey smoke billowing from the vehicle.

Drivers are asked to delay travel or take a different route.
