Now the MetService long range forecast for all New Zealand to midnight Monday
The Situation
A low and associated fronts over the North Island move away to the east today, while a weakening cold front moves up the South Island, then onto the lower North Island later. A ridge gradually builds behind the front from the west, covering most of New Zealand by tomorrow.
Looking at the weather to midnight tomorrow
Northland to Taranaki, also Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty, and Taupo
Showers becoming isolated and confined to the west coast this afternoon.
Gisborne and Hawke's Bay
Scattered showers, mainly north of Wairoa, clearing this afternoon, but returning for a time tomorrow.
Whanganui to Wellington, also Taihape, Wairarapa and Nelson
Partly cloudy, with isolated showers this evening. One or two showers in Taranaki tomorrow.
Marlborough and Canterbury
Mainly fine. However, a few showers this afternoon or evening, possibly heavy inland.
Buller and Westland
A few showers clearing today. Cloud increasing tomorrow and isolated showers developing.
Otago and Southland, excluding Stewart Island
Showers clearing to mainly fine this evening. Rain developing in Southland from tomorrow night.
Fiordland, including Stewart Island
A few showers, turning to rain tomorrow afternoon, with some heavy falls.
Chatham Islands
Rain easing to a few showers today and clearing early tomorrow.

Saturday
North Island: Fine in the east. Partly cloudy with isolated showers elsewhere. South Island: Rain, possibly heavy, in the west and south, spreading to Canterbury later. Mainly fine in Nelson and Marlborough.
Sunday
North Island: Partly cloudy. Isolated showers in the east and north. South Island: Periods of rain in the west, possibly heavy. Scattered rain or showers elsewhere, easing.
Monday
North Island: Partly cloudy. Isolated showers in the east and north. South Island: Periods of rain in the west, easing. Partly cloudy with a few showers elsewhere, but mainly fine in the north.
And at the Chathams
Fine with northerlies on Saturday, then partly cloudy on Sunday with the chance of a shower and light winds. Partly cloudy on Monday, with the odd shower as southerlies develop.
