The Papua New Guinea Prime Minister has defended the government's decision to deport an Australian media advisor of the Sustainable Development Programme.
Mark Davis was arrested last week and put on a plane to Brisbane after having all of his personal possessions confiscated.
Peter O'Neill has told PNG Village that Mr Davis was orchestrating a campaign against the government, and that politics is not within the scope of his work permit.
He says the government is happy to reclassify the permit but Mr Davis would have to re-apply.
But Mr Davis says he represents the PNGSDP and the government is attempting to take over the fund, which is a not-for-profit charity organisation registered in Singapore.
"Of course it's going to have a political element. I write media releases for the chairman and the chief executive criticising the government, I write advertisements criticising the government's actions and calling into question its behaviour, that's my job."
