The Federal Emergency Management Agency has obligated $US20.1 million for a plethora of projects in the CNMI related to Super Typhoon recovery.

The project worksheets include $US4.5 million to the CNMI Public School System for 42 classroom structures, $US2.3 million to the Northern Marianas College for 22 structures, $US13.4 million in power restoration, and $US151,000 to the CNMI Judiciary for generator use.
Governor Ralph DLG Torres said these were all critical priorities that the CNMI requested from FEMA in order to address several key areas.
Several campuses of PSS and the NMC campus on Saipan were severely damaged by Yutu in last October, necessitating some schools to close down for more than a month and share facilities.
Torres added that island power restoration was at the very top of the list, as the CNMI works with the Commonwealth Utilities Corp., the Army Corps of Engineers, and utility partners from Guam, Colorado, and Micronesia.
The Judiciary building's problems predate Yutu, as the decades-old air-condition system needs replacement as it has brought molding issues on the facility.
