The appeal court in French Polynesia has deferred a scheduled hearing about the future of the La Depeche de Tahiti newspaper until next week.
The paper's parent company, which was placed in receivership last year, tabled a rescue plan for the paper which the court accepted.
It has gone to the creditors who had been given until the end of April to reply.
However, the prosecution intervened and challenged some provisions which the appeal court was to consider.
The court has been put off until 11th April.
La Depeche, which was established in 1964, lost its own printing shop last year when it was liquidated following prolonged financial difficulties.
It has been the only local daily newspaper for sale since 2014 when the territory's oldest newspaper Nouvelles de Tahiti ceased publication after 57 years.
