Reports Chinese gambling business driving hard bargain

A Chinese company has reportedly given the Samoa government a wish list for investment in the country, including a casino.

Talamua Online reported a company call Beijing Zhao Yi Li Investment Management, has recently visited Samoa.

The website claimed to have files from the company in which it laid down what concessions it requires to invest.

These include land at preferential prices, with services from facilities such as airports, schools, ports and hospitals provided at no charge.

The company also requires the government to grant it exclusive management of any gambling business in the country.

Beijing Zhao Yi Li reportedly wants to bring up to 30,000 Chinese workers to Samoa.
