The museum's Far From Frozen exhibition opened in Suva on Tuesday.

Otago Museum's Craig Grant said the exhibition explains some of the science behind climate change and its effects in the islands.

He said topics cover sea-level rise, extreme weather events and the bleaching of coral reefs.

Far From Frozen is a science showcase and was developed by the museum and Antarctic New Zealand in 2017.

Dr Grant said they had taken the exhibition to Niue and the Cook Islands last year.

He said it was also showcased around New Zealand and Tonga in June this year.

He said after Fiji, museum staff would visit Samoa next.
