Vanuatu's Shefa Provincial Board has ordered the reinstatement of 31 students expelled from one of the country's most prestigious schools for drinking alcohol.

The Board refused to uphold the Malapoa College Council's decision as the students had already been punished through suspension and other actions, The Vanuatu Daily Post reports.
In addition, most of the senior students were first time offenders, and the Board was concerned the students would miss their examinations.
The suspended students would be issued with reinstatement letters and given counselling before returning to their classes, the board said.
