Jail term for drug offender in Tahiti

A person in French Polynesia has been jailed for three years after being caught in possession of drugs and a firearm.

They were arrested with two others when seven grams of methamphetamine, 24 grams of cannabis, and a gun were found in their car.

A search at their homes found more cannabis.

The court has jailed one the individuals for three years, banned them from carrying a gun fo five years and fined them $US9000.

The two other suspects are yet to be tried.
