The chair of the Pacific Islands Forum, Tuvalu Prime Minister Kausea Natano, is the latest to raise concerns at last week's developments at the University of the South Pacific.

The Vice Chancellor Pal Ahluwalia was controversially suspended by Pro-Chancellor Winston Thompson, sparking protests by students and staff while the University's Council is to discuss it.

Mr Natano said he is calling on all Forum members "to work together, and in the Pacific way, to chart a course forward for our premier institution of learning."

He said "common sense must prevail if we are to be successful in bringing about lasting solutions to the ongoing challenges at the university."
