Cooks opposition says people quarantine re-instated

The opposition Democratic Party in the Cook Islands said its call to reinstate supervised Covid-19 quarantine is gaining momentum.

In a statement the party saids locals chose overwhelmingly at two public meetings on Rarotonga this week to bring the quarantine back.

Mandatory 14-day quarantine for all incoming international travellers managed by Te Marae Ora - the Ministry of Health - was lifted by the government two weeks ago.

The opposition leader, Tina Browne, saying they don't want to politicise the issue, rather hearing what people have to say and lobbying the government.

She said the Cook Islands Covid-19 Act clearly states government must put in measures that protect the people.
