French Polynesia's pro-independence Tavini Huiraatira party has suggested to its supporters to abstain from voting in the French presidential election in April.
Its leader Oscar Temaru said voters are free to choose but he says none of the candidates represents French Polynesia's interests.
He said his party's agreement with the Socialist Party of Francois Hollande had turned out to be a bad adventure because the French side had failed to deliver on its promises.

The Tavini will however contest the election for the territory's three seats in the French National Assembly in June, and it has nominated the youngest candidate to date.
Temata'i Le Gayic, who is 21-years-old, will stand in the first electorate, which includes Papeete.
In the other two electorates, the Tavini has nominated Steeve Chailloux and Moetai Brotherson, who is seeking a second term.
In 2008, the 34-year-old Tavini candidate Richard Tuheiava was elected to become the youngest member of the French Senate.
The other two parties represented in French Polynesia's assembly have publicised their preferences for the presidential election.
The ruling Tapura Huiraatira will back Emmanuel Macron and the Amuitahiraa no te nunaa Maohi will support Valerie Pecresse.
