Tonga's only domestic airline, Lulutai, has remained operational, despite problems with one aircraft last week in Eua.

A flight from Eua was abandoned with the chief executive Poasi Tei saying the plane had an issue with its brakes.

An earlier story from RNZ Pacific reported that the airline's other plane, a SAAB 340, was also out of action, undergoing repairs, but Tei said this aircraft is flying and has been throughout the issues experienced last week.

Lulutai is continuing to accept bookings for services to the outer island groups of Ha-apai, Vava'u, the Niua's and to Eua.

Earlier our correspondent in Tonga, Kalafi Moala, reported there was concern in the tourism sector because many prospective visitors come to Tonga to visit the outer islands, but Tei said the tourists are important though the basis of their business is carrying locals.

Lulutai Airlines was established two years ago by the government after the private operator, Real Tonga, ran into problems.
