We talk to Journalist Richard Langston about his new book Pull Down The Shades – GARAGE Fanzine 1984-86 

Richard Langston is a well known NZ journalist. You may recognise him from his days as a journalist working for TV3 and TVNZ  he still works on Country Calender.

It was his days working as a print journalist in Chch and Dunedin in the early 1980s - he was also editor and publisher of  an ultra-obscure fanzine called GARAGE.

Garage chronicled the massive creative explosion of music that came out of the South Island, New Zealand in the late 70s and 80s 

From The Enemy, The Clean, The Chills, The Verlaines, The Bats, The Builders, Victor Dimisich Band, Scorched Earth Policy …to The Great Unwashed and Straitjacket Fits.

2.00 The Tesky Brothers are bringing their soulful blues back to Aotearoa

The Teskey Brothers are an Australian blues rock & soul band from Melbourne, who take influence from artists like Peter Green, Otis Redding and Ray Charles. The Teskey Brothers return to Aotearoa in December for two shows. 

Josh and Sam Teskey have played together since they were kids but their new album released yesterday is taking the band to a huge international audience - they have been added to the Glastonbury lineup and their music in The UK going viral from crowds singing on the street post show.

Charlotte Ryan spoke to vocals and rhythm guitarist Josh Teskey - One half of the brother duo from his UK base in Bristol.

The highly acclaimed children’s book author and illustrator of more than 70 books, whose work ranges from original stories to retellings of Māori myths, European fairy stories, and nursery rhymes. 
Gavin Bishop has been shortlisted for NZ book awards more times than any other author of any kind. And most recently nominated for the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen Award.
He is widely travelled and has been a guest author and speaker, through UNESCO, in Japan, China, Indonesia and the USA.
