This super-group collective was the brainchild of Sean Donnelly AKA SJD) and was formed in 2009. The band consists of Sean who is the main songwriter along with Don McGlashan, Victoria Kelly and Sandy Mill who all provide vocals and instrumentation.
In June 2010 RNZ invited The Bellbirds to Roundhead Studios for an intimate session of originals and a special Nick Cave cover.
