9:35 Link between hearing loss and dementia
Yesterday, March 3, was World Hearing Day.
Hearing loss is the second most common cause of disability and a strong risk factor for cognitive decline like dementia.
Up to one in six New Zealanders experience hearing loss, and this number is only expected to rise in future.
Professor Peter Thorne is from the faculty of medical and health sciences at the University of Auckland and he joins Emile Donovan.

After running the shop for 16 years, Liz Watson is selling up and looking for a new owner to keep the beloved dairy in tip top condition.

10:17 Homegrown solar could be used to help nationwide energy shortages
In the future, New Zealanders might all be contributing to the nation's energy security following the success of a pilot programme using 'virtual power plant' technology.
The eight-month pilot, using 10,000 homes with solar and battery storage, showed that the technology can be used during peak demand periods over winter to plug the national grid supply.
It was led by the national energy centre Ara Ake and solar power and battery company SolarZero.
The chief executive of SolarZero Matt Ward joins Emile Donovan.
