The police are seeking witnesses to a stabbing in northern Hawke's Bay at the weekend.
A 27-year-old man was wounded outside a house on Lion Street in Wairoa shortly before 1am on Sunday.
He is recovering in Hawke's Bay Hospital.
The police say they will increase their presence in the area.
