A 21-year-old man tramping in a valley near Wellington reported missing has made contact with police.

The man set out yesterday for the Ōrongorongo Valley but it was not clear what time he left, or when he was planning to return.
Police said he was reported missing at 10.20am.
Search and rescue have been notified.
