Police seize drugs and weapons in Masterton

Police have recovered drugs, a knife and firearms during three separate incidents in Masterton.

They found a shotgun in a vehicle driven by a disqualified driver in the early hours of last Friday morning on Chapel Street.

A 20-year-old man will appear in Masterton District Court on Monday on multiple charges.

Meanwhile, a shotgun and knife were discovered last Friday night in a stolen vehicle on Colombo Road.

A 19-year-old man faces multiple charges and is due to appear in Masterton District Court later next week.

The latest arrest occurred on Sunday when police responded to an incident at a High Street, Masterton, address.

Police recovered cannabis, methamphetamine and two pistols at the premises.

A 29-year-old woman was charged with unlawfully possessing firearms and multiple drug related charges.

She is due to appear at Masterton District Court on Thursday.

"Our staff are committed to getting illegal firearms off the streets," acting Detective Senior Sergeant Haley Ryan, Investigations manager Wairapapa said.

"I actively encourage people to contact Police if they have information on offenders illegally in possession of firearms or involved in the supply of drugs."
