On Friday they will have a public walk through Cathedral Square, offering the public the best chance to see the royal couple.

The Christchurch City Council said people wanting the opportunity to meet the them were encouraged to be in Cathedral Square from 1.30pm.

The couple will spend tomorrow morning visiting Tuahiwi Marae and Cashmere High School, where they will be joined by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

They will then travel into the central library, Tūranga, where the Prince will attend a reception for the Christchurch Cathedral Reinstatement Project, and inspect the quake-damaged Christchurch cathedral.

After inspecting the cathedral, the couple will have a public walk-about through Cathedral Square.
