The deadline for further submissions on the West Coast's Te Tai o Poutini Plan has been extended.

West Coast Regional Council planning and science manager Fiona Thomson said a software error meant the latest versions of some of the summary documents were not showing updates made in the last round of corrections.

In the interest of fairness, the timeframe for further submissions has been extended for another 10 working days.

"This will not change the hearing timeframes nor delay the preparation of reports for the hearings, as these timeframes have already been altered.

"We understand this may be frustrating for the community, unfortunately as we use an external software provider, this is outside staff control."

All submissions and further submissions that have already been lodged will remain in the submission process.

The corrected summaries will be available to view on the [ttpp.nz/further-submissions TTPP website] and a table outlining the changes that were made has also been included for clarification.

The new closing date for submissions was Monday 17 July.
