A homicide investigation is underway in Palmerston North after a man died from gunshot wounds.
In a statement, Detective Sergeant Dave Wilson said emergency services were called to Coromandel Court about 7.30pm on Saturday to reports of a man being shot.
He was taken to hospital but died of his injuries shortly after.
"Police have maintained a scene guard at the property overnight, and will complete a scene examination with assistance from staff at ESR.
"Officers will remain in the area today as we piece together exactly what has occurred."
Wilson said police wanted to hear from anyone who was in the Roslyn areas of Coromandel Court and Featherston Street who may have seen anything "suspicious".
People who have CCTV or dashcam footage from the evening are asked to call 105.
