The body of Gurjit Singh, who was found dead at his home in Dunedin last Monday, has been transported to Christchurch in preparation for it to be repatriated.

A 33-year-old technician accused of murdering Singh appeared at the Dunedin District Court on Monday.

Punjabi community leader Harjit Magoo said he had been supporting Singh's father who had arrived in New Zealand from India.

Magoo said the body of Gurjit Singh was taken to Christchurch yesterday afternoon as the family prepared to bring it back to India.

A givealittle fundraising page was set up to support the victim's family.
