All roads surrounding the blaze at an Auckland rubbish and recycling plant have reopened.

The fire at the Green Gorilla facility in Onehunga started on Wednesday afternoon, forcing nearby businesses to evacuate and roads to close.

Crews spent Thursday night putting water on the site for the second night in a row.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said two trucks were at the scene and would spend the morning continuing to monitor and dampen hotspots.

Hoses have been cleared from the roads, meaning the eastbound lanes on Neilson Street, between Alfred and Galway Street have reopened.
