Large blaze at Auckland scrap metal site contained

More than a dozen firefighters are tackling a large blaze at a scrap metal processing site in South Auckland this afternoon.

Fire and Emergency were called to the incident shortly before 2pm.

A large pile of flock - which is a term for waste generated from steel recycling - had caught fire.

The pile was about 10 by 10 metres.

The fire was contained but crews remained on site.
