Prime Minister Christopher Luxon is speaking to media in Sydney where he has met with his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese before returning to New Zealand.
The one day-trip is Luxon's first official visit overseas since taking office.
Luxon held a joint media conference with Albanese earlier today where he thanked Australia for its support during Cyclone Gabrielle and also offered New Zealand's help with the floods in north Queensland.
Luxon also acknowledged Albanese for the work and interventions he made to ease New Zealanders pathway to Australian citizenship.
Luxon said his government would work constructively in the area of security "to make sure that we're a good partner and holding up our end".
