The Auckland fighter, who traditionally takes his time in a fight, only needed three minutes into the first round before setting up a spectacular knockout with his knee after drawing hometown favourite Jim Miller within striking distance with a jab.

Hooker's newly trademarked knee has appeared on his score sheet before when he finished Ross Pearson in the same way, before going on to win performance of the night in June last year in New Zealand.

The win sets Hooker up to fight a ranked opponent next, and during the post-fight interview he called out Paul Felder who also happened to be interviewing him.

Felder is currently ranked 14th in the UFC lightweight division.

"I want a ranked opponent next and I just so happen to be standing across from a ranked opponent without a fight," said Hooker.

"If you'll do me the honour next, we could get Sean (Shelby) to match it up."

The UFC broadcaster and fighter Felder replied by accepting the challenge live on air.

"If Sean Shelby talks to me tonight and tells me he wants me to fight you, you are a tough opponent and I think you deserve somebody higher ranked than that," replied Felder.
