Dame Lisa Carrington has won her third medal at the opening Canoe Sprint World Cup regatta in Hungary.

Carrington and Alicia Hoskin won the K2 500 by more than a second from Poland with Germany third.

Carrington won the K1 500 and was a part of the K4 500 crew that won bronze.

New Zealand's 4th medal at the event was Aimee Fisher's silver in the K1 500.

Also on the final day para-canoeist Peter Cowan was fourth in the VL3 200 with Scott Martlew eighth.

GM Preformance Nathan Luce was delighted with the performance of Carrington and Hoskin in one of the most competitive events at the event.

"That K2 had five heats and a couple of defending medalists from last year's World Championships and so it was cool to see Lisa and Alicia make that big improvement over last year.

"We saw their level had improved over the year which was exciting to see from our perspective."

New Zealand finished the regatta sixth on the medal table with two gold, a silver and a bronze along with one para silver medal.

The squad will now return home to train before returning to Europe later in the year to prepare for the World Championships.
