Fridges to be reused for community library initiative

From , 5:01 am on 4 February 2020

Fridges are being reused as book exchange depositories in the New Zealand city of Auckland, with the aim of tackling environmental issues while making books more accessible to the public.

City councils across the country say any means of recycling fridges are good for the environment, as they avoid adding harmful material to landfills and greenhouse gasses to the atmosphere.

Samoan architectural designer, Lei Toetu, installed the first fridge full of books in central Auckland and he hopes to see more across the city.
