In Hawaii, the U.S Coast Guard welcomed the Harriet Lane, a 270 foot Indo-Pacific support cutter with a 100 person crew.

It was recently relocated from Portsmouth, Virginia to Hawaii last month in December.

As the Indo-Pacific Support Cutter, Harriet Lane will strengthen strategically important relationships with its allies and partners within the Indo-Pacific region with a focus on advising, training, joint deployment, and capacity building.

The ship has departed for the Pacific, where it will be making a total of seven stops this month and throughout February.

Pacific Waves host Susana Suisuiki spoke with US Coast Guard Op Blue Pacific Lead, Captain Jennifer Conklin.
