A community leader in Papua New Guinea's Enga Province, Wapenamanda, says mediation is underway between the warring factions in the remote Highlands in an effort to prevent further violence.

dozens of men including children were killed on February 18th in what has been described as the worst massacre in recent history.

Aquila Kunza says revenge killings have been ongoing for at least five years and there is no sign of gunmen stopping anytime soon.

He's housing women and children who fled the violence and says a community led approach is needed.
