New Zealand is on a growing list of countries around the world banning TikTok on government cellphones over concerns the Chinese company that owns the social media platform might use data from users inappropriately.
For tech reporter Emily Baker-White, the concern is real. ByteDance, the Chinese owners of TikToc, DID use her data while investigating their own employees accused of leaking to the press.
Baker-White is now a senior reporter at Forbes magazine and writes about privacy and security concerns with TikTok and what the Chinese owners say they'll do to protect the data of more than 13 billion people around the world.
